12/06/2011 — Deceuninck acquires the PVC recycling equipment from the Bruges (B-Belgium) based company Verpola nv. Combined with the existing recycling capacity at its PVC extrusion site in Gits (B), Deceuninck increases its annual recycling capacity to 20,000 tonnes. The complete line will be integrated into the infrastructure of its existing raw material production unit in Diksmuide (B). The total expenditure amounts to € 3 million. In time, this operation is anticipated to employ 13 staff. The recycling of post-industrial waste from Deceuninck window manufacturers is expected to become operational from Q2 2012. By the end of 2012 the recycling of end-of-life PVC windows from window and door installers will start.

Tom Debusschere, CEO:
“At Deceuninck we believe in “Building a sustainable home”: We create sustainable building products with superior insulation at the lowest possible material consumption, throughout a 50+ life cycle. At “end of life” our products will be recycled into new raw material. This strategic investment makes our vision very tangible: we offer our window manufacturers and installers an all inclusive solution: end-of-life windows from the 70’s and 80’s return to our recycling plant in Diksmuide, our raw material factory. Basically, recycling is simply another source of raw materials.

In addition, this investment guarantees a closed loop for all the products we put on the market: PVC, Twinson wood composite, as well as the newly launched glass fibre reinforced PVC” For further information on our vision:

Bernard Vanderper, Director Northwest Europe:
“With our building solutions, our customers are sustainable in two ways: First, we offer better energy efficient products during a long lifetime and, second, at “end of life” we commit to Renocycle®.

The greenest energy is the energy you do not consume. Our latest generation windows offer excellent value by improving insulation, helping families to save a substantial amount of heating fuel during a 50+ year lifetime.

The greenest raw material is the one that you do not consume. Our latest window designs provide an improved energy performance at an ever lower weight. We now meet passive house insulation requirements, at up to 40% less material consumption. This helps the users of our products to preserve natural resources.

On top of this reduced material consumption, Deceuninck now enhances its recycling capacity to increase the replacement of virgin material by recycled material.

To bring this concept to the market, Deceuninck introduces a proprietary brand name, “Renocycling®, combining Renovation and Recycling.”
